Makadi Bay is part of an ambitious tourism project by the government to increase the bed capacity along the Red Sea coast to 250,000, due to a increasing numbers of holiday makers choosing the Red Sea coastline as the ideal get away. Makadi bay is located between the center of Hurghada and Port Safaga. The purpose built tourist resort is relatively young in comparison to other Red Sea resorts but is fast becoming a popular diving location.
As well as the diving at Makadi Bay which has it's own reef, diving trips are offerered to Safaga and southern diving places of Hurghada. As well as the diving there is a whole range of water sports available, from surfing to water skiing. Makadi Bay is well-known for a completely different sport: Golf - its exposed golf course is the second golf course in the region, with the other course 60 kilometers to the North in El Gouna. The nearest airport to Makadi Bay is Hurghada and takes approximatley 20 minutes. Various daily tours are available to Luxor and into the valley of the kings although they can be quite strenous due to the heat in the summer months. Multi-daily trips are also available to the Egyptian capital Cairo where you get the chance to see the Pyramids and shop at Bazzars. Contrary to the trips after. Tour buses are comfortable with air conditioning.
